The Apex Story

The safety match industry in India has an in-depth history attached to it. Sivakasi, Kovilpatti & Sattur are the prime regions in South India where 80% of Safety matches production comes from. The region is a cluster for safety match manufacturing where raw materials and technology is supported by a wide range of suppliers.

The Safety matches industry was competing in the domestic market when the promoters of Apex identified the opportunity in Safety matches in the International market. India was exporting about 300 containers of safety matches in 2005 and the market was poised to grow since other countries like China and Indonesia were losing their competitiveness.

Apex was formed in 20th May 2005, focussing to take Indian safety matches to the International market. From 2007 rapid mechanization in the Industry helped Apex to scale in production and also capture into International markets.

Apex stays as market leader in the markets where Apex is supplying and we strive for the brand to become successful in those markets. Apex in 2024 exports about 160 containers yearly to 15 different countries in Europe, Latin America and Africa.
